War horse
Altin used to lead the cavalry in a war that they could not remember the name of even if they tried. Leading their own kind in another species' war used to make Altin sick, knowing how many would die, but as time went on it seemed as if they became numb to that very sentiment. Meeting the Esk
When the smoke cleared and the weight of the world returned, a warm fire flickered close to Altin's head, big dark eyes gazing down at them. It's not that Altin immediately came to dislike this being before them, but knowing that this creature might be the reason the peaceful feeling lasted but a second did irritate him. The other
229
Altin harbors no good feelings towards their creator, and would rather burn the whole place down than for them to visit Altin. The treshold
Shaping their environment
Those who know stay away, and those who do not won't make the same mistake again. It might as well be an unwritten rule, for everyone who enters may not be seen again. Altin's vengeful nature is a stain on the land they set foot on. Whether inside their own boundary, or if Altin decides to venture outside, they do not tolerate company. Animals - he may not care as long as they don't bother Altin, but humans and Esk alike should steer clear. As such, no human influence can be seen any longer in their boundary, safe from rusted metal pieces here and there. |
Boundary
Forgotten battlefield
They used to be peaceful fields once, these barren lands. Animals used to roam around, a gentle breeze rustling the trees, but those times have long past. War stripped the lands from all that was good and created the boundary Altin has grown accustomed to. No creature in their right mind would enter their domain, for between the grasses darkness lurks, and death is but one breath away. Losing their way
Their ultimate demise was an expected one, having the same fate as so many of their kind before them. Wether it was a sword, arrow or a panicked hoof from one of their own, Altin can't bother to remember such trivial facts. In the end, it makes no difference, the reason for their demise is still the same. The transformation
It wasn't pretty, the start of Altin's new "life". With broken sounds of screams in the background and a suffocating smoke permeating the air, a horse's last breath is the last thing worthy of attention. The smoke embraced Altin, made them feel weightless as the world fell silent. Truth be told, it might just have been the best moment in Altin's life. Their purpose
A deep hatred for those that dare use others as replaceable pawns rooted deep into Altin's chest and festered from the inside out, a sentiment so strong that it became the base for Altin's new life as an Esk. Humanity will forever be Altin's enemy, as well as any other species that roam the same lands and skies as them. They only ever serve as humanity's despicable tools in the first place. As such, Altin's purpose is nought but revenge. Their haunt
First time outside their Boundary
It was Altin's boredom that led them outside of their usual haunt, looking for something even mildly interesting to relieve them from a monotonous day. The areas around their boundary, surprisingly, were filled with activity, and if some people were missed by their families once Altin retreated back to their boundary - no one would be any wiser. A trip out of their boundary happened more often after that, on days that were especially dull. |
